Global Warming, Fact or Fiction?
Many will argue the case for one or the other and have many facts and studies to prove their stance on the subject. While this subject seems to be a relative recent topic, we will see that it really dates back thousands of years. I must admit that I have been on the fiction side of the argument for years and my point of view has always been the weather cycles are circular and there is not enough data to prove that we are in for Global warming, albeit that it will be not in our generation but in the next millennium. I also find it hard to believe in the ice ages as depicted by the scientific community. I believe most of what was carved out of this earth was not the ice age but by a Global flood as told in the scriptures.
It seems that man in general at least in the United States has had a dooms day attitude for many subjects that are portrayed in our movies and TV shows since the 1950’s. It shouldn’t be a shock that one of the latest dooms day theories would be the end of man will come as Global warming. It seems that many who believe there is no God, now substitute the earth for God and their mission in life is to save the planet from evil man. It has always been the plan for God to save man from himself as man chooses to be evil and follow evil itself, that is the devil. As we read in the scriptures man has imagined and created so many false gods all the way back to the beginning. We read of many false gods in the journeys of the apostle Paul in almost every city he taught the gospel how the people worshipped false gods of every nature. Now in the United States, we have taught our children to be activist for the last two generations. These “activist” now need a religion to believe in. they need a cause to follow, and they reject the true God not out of facts but out of their own will.
So now I find myself on the side that believes that Global warming is coming, in fact I have believed it for a long time but not in the way it is taught and used to lead people astray. The apostle Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3 that the Lord is not slack concerning his promises. In verse 10 we learn that the earth will be subject to Global warming, “10 but the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.” That sure sounds like Global warming to me.
In previous verses of the same chapter, will have other promises made by God. Verse 3, “knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts.” The following verses 5-7, explains a very simple fact: man, willfully forget. Man forgets that God made the earth, flooded the earth, preserves the earth, and some day will destroy the earth. The same God and the same word, his word, is what holds it together and will also destroy it. I do believe that man, as a whole, should be a good servant for God to protect our environment, but in the end, it will be up to God what he decides to do with the earth and not man. We also should not forget the promise made in Hebrews 6 where God tells us that he cannot lie, and his promises are true because he swore on himself. There is nothing greater to swear by so God swore by himself to Abraham the covenant he made with him was true and the promises would come true. We should be comforted by his promise and know for sure through faith that we will be covered by the same covenant made by the same God.
